Join us for a glass of champagne on Sunday 26 November at The Old Rectory - or by appointment the following week. Contact me by e-mail or call 078100 32025 or 01379 668875.
Bridget Riley is recognised internationally as one of the most important post-war artists, and the last few years have seen major retrospectives or exhibitions of her work on both sides of the Atlantic, in Europe and in Australasia. While known primarily for her paintings, she has made a body of prints that is both innovative and technically accomplished.
In all she has made fewer than 65 prints, and our exhibition parallels the various stages of her painting - from the very rare monochrome pieces of the '60s, the stripes of her 'Egyptian' palette of the '80s, the 'zigs' that followed and the 'curves' which have been the focus of her recent work; all of these are screenprints.
The fifteen works on show will include two recent gouaches - one of which will be for sale. (The site is currently incomplete and the additional images will be added in the next few days)
If the work is priced 'framed' I may not have a further unframed copy - but it is worth asking. If you cannot get to the show and want to see a piece elsewhere (like London), do let me know.
